Annual Balance Assessment

Falling is a major concern of all adults. Although maintaining good balance at any age is important, older generations are at a higher risk of declining balance for a variety of reasons.

Decreasing muscle mass and strength, vision and hearing loss, along with other health conditions and diseases all can contribute to balance issues as we age. These complications put older generations at a greater risk of falling, which leads to fractures and fractures lead to further deconditioning. It’s a vicious chain.

That is why we offer the Annual Balance Assessment. For those of you that feel like you may be one of the hundreds of thousands of people living with declining balance there is hope! Although we can’t turn back time or prevent the natural aging process, we can take actions to slow down the progression and help prevent injuries from accidental falls.

This balance assessment brings an experienced physical therapist to you in the safety of your own home. They will spend time assessing your balance, stance, and gait, while educating you on how to (and what to do) in order to improve and progress your balance. Our therapists will also look “inside your house” to make suggestions on how to limit fall risk hazards.

This is a once a year check up to ensure you’re doing the right things, to maintain your balance, and give you back the confidence to feel safe walking about your home and community.
