Frequently Asked Questions

How much will physical therapy cost me?
Medicare patients:

If you are a Medicare Part B patient, there are only two instances where you will have financial responsibility.

The first instance involves your annual Medicare deductible. You will be responsible for meeting your annual deductible before Medicare will pay for your iMove PT services. Oftentimes, your secondary insurance will cover your Medicare deductible. However, we won’t know if that applies to you until we submit our billing claims.

The second situation where there may be an out of pocket cost involves your secondary insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal does not reimburse for iMove PT services. Aside from this secondary insurance, all other secondary insurances have covered iMove PT services.

Also, if you don’t have a secondary insurance then you would be responsible for 20% of the allowed charges. This 20% typically equates to around $20/visit.

Self Pay/Out of Network patients:

In order to provide the highest level of physical therapy care, iMove PT does not contract with private insurance plans such as United HealthCare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or Aetna. This includes any Medicare Advantage plan. However, we will provide our out of network patients with all the necessary documentation to allow the patient to submit their claim to their insurance company. This will allow for potential out of network reimbursement for the patient.

Our self pay rate is $150/visit. Each visit is 1 hour in length and is one on one with your physical therapist in the convenience of your own home.

How much of my time and for how long will I have to commit to physical therapy?

This will depend on several factors but a common protocol for a patient needing physical therapy is twice a week for 6-8 weeks. The therapist will make this decision after the initial evaluation to determine what would be best for you. If you are making great progress towards your physical therapy goals, your physical therapist may decide that you are ready to move down to once a week. Or, they may decide at first that being seen 3 times a week would be more appropriate to address your limitations. In home therapy sessions are one on one for 60 minutes.

What should I wear for my appointment?

Loose comfortable clothing will be best where your injured body part can be easily seen by your physical therapist. Wearing tennis shoes or the shoes you typically wear for exercise is recommended. Your therapist will oftentimes look at your shoes to make sure they are appropriate for you.

Do I need to have a doctor’s referral to see a physical therapist?

In Missouri, you do need a physical therapy prescription from an approved provider to receive physical therapy treatment. However, an initial evaluation can be performed without a prescription. After the evaluation, your therapist will create a Plan of Care to inform your medical provider of the evaluation findings and the proposed course of treatment. iMove PT will take care of all the necessary communication with your medical provider’s office.

Our Illinois patients, under most circumstances, do not need a referral from an approved medical provider to begin physical therapy. Please contact our office for more information at 636-893-8312.

How long is each PT visit and what will we do during the visit?

Your one on one session with your physical therapist will be 60 minutes long. The exact treatment will be determined after your physical therapist performs a thorough evaluation of your injured body part. iMove PT therapists do not follow a specific protocol approach, we tailor our treatment plans based upon you and your specific injury.

Visits may consist of many different types of treatment. Hands on manual physical therapy, specific therapeutic exercise, balance training, gait training, sport specific training, aerobic conditioning, and patient education are just some of the treatments we perform.

I don’t have any exercise equipment. What kind of equipment will iMove PT bring for our sessions?

Everything you will need for your therapy session will be provided by your physical therapist. We utilize an in-home pulley system called the TheraPulley. This will allow any exercise to be performed on any part of the body.

In addition, your therapist can bring in weights, balance training equipment, and any other needed equipment helpful for your specific diagnosis and goals. We even have been known to bring a golf training mat and practice golf balls into the homes of our clients who desire to return to the game!

Your therapist may recommend you purchase exercise equipment to optimize your home exercise program.

What can I expect after my therapy is over, what if my pain comes back?

We like to keep an eye on our patients via email and phone call surveys after they have completed their program and have been discharged from physical therapy. If at any time you feel that your symptoms may be returning or you’re experiencing new pain we are only a phone call away. Some patients that graduate from PT treatments like to take advantage of iMove PT’s Monthly Fitness Progression Program to help them stay on track and progress with their exercises.

What happens if I have to cancel an appointment?

We understand that things come up which will force you to cancel your appointment. However, your time is as valuable as ours and giving us at least 24 hours advance notice is greatly appreciated. We will make every effort to reschedule your appointment for the same week. Our goal is to avoid gaps in your treatment which will slow your progress in physical therapy.

I don’t think I need physical therapy, are there other services that I can do to keep up on my health?

With COVID going on, what are you doing to make me feel safe with having someone come into my home?

At iMove PT we are taking every precaution necessary before entering your home. All equipment will have been sanitized and wiped clean after it’s previous use, then again once it is brought into your home before your use. Clinicians will wash hands or use hand sanitizer before working with you and, of course, wear a face mask.

To further keep you safe, iMove PT requires all therapists to be fully vaccinated before entering a patient’s home.  Should you or your therapist have a fever or feel ill the appointment will need to be rescheduled for another day.
